S’pore’s MBS announces establishment of Sands Innovative Arts Fund

The establishment of the Sands Innovative Arts Fund has been announced by Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, with an initial contribution of SG$ 500,000.

The fund’s objective is to make investments in emerging artists and creative genres. It is a component of Marina Bay Sands’ community engagement program, Sands Cares, which focuses on arts financing and is managed by the National Arts Council’s Sustain the Arts Fund.

One of Marina Bay Sands’ biggest contributions to the arts is the Sands Innovative Arts Fund, which could be eligible for dollar-for-dollar matching through the Cultural Matching Fund of the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth, bringing the total to SG$1 million (US$745,000).

This announcement follows the three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Marina Bay Sands and the National Arts Council signed, reiterating the integrated resort’s commitment to serving as a venue for the arts. The strategic partnership aims to transform Marina Bay Sands into a “vibrant canvas,” providing visitors and event planners with distinctive cultural experiences.

Paul Town, the Chief Operating Officer of Marina Bay Sands, stated cities can be enhanced, challenged, and inspired by the arts. Through the Sands Innovative Cultural Fund, Marina Bay Sands is excited to contribute to the future development of Singapore’s cultural community. He continued by saying their dedication to fostering innovation and creativity in the arts for the next generations is shown by this gift.

The second iteration of “Where Art Takes Shape,” an immersive event designed to inspire and intrigue art enthusiasts and the general public across the site, is currently being held by Marina Bay Sands as part of Singapore Art Week.
