Galaxy Entertainment confirms salary increase for majority of staff

The majority of the employees at Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd. are being paid more, according to a press statement issued on Monday.

Nearly 98% of the workforce will benefit from the salary increase, which will take effect on April 1st and apply to all workers at the senior management level or lower who joined the firm before January 1st.

If an employee’s base salary is MOP16,000 (US$1,986) per month, they will get an increase of MOP600 in addition to any guaranteed tips. According to the corporation, employees who earn more than MOP16,000 in basic pay plus guaranteed tips each month would get a 2.5 percent pay boost.

In a press statement, Galaxy Entertainment expressed thanks to each and every team member for their efforts and contributions over the previous year and said it looked forward to working with them again in the future.

Local gaming enterprises were instructed by Lei Wai Nong, Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, to raise employee remuneration in 2024 if they had the “conditions” to do so.

Earlier this month, Galaxy Entertainment and other Macau operators announced a “2023 discretionary bonus” that is equal to one month’s “base salary” and guaranteed tips for qualifying personnel. The bonus is supposed to be given on January 31 in advance of the Chinese New Year, which falls on February 10.
