Light & Wonder welcomes Michael Marchetti to board as independent member

Michael Marchetti was named as an independent board member by Light & Wonder Inc., a manufacturer of gaming technology and casino equipment, effective January 15.

Marchetti, a director of SciPlay Corp. since 2019, brings to his new role a wealth of knowledge in mobile gaming as well as a strong experience in finance. The acquisition of SciPlay’s remaining public shares by Light & Wonder in October 2023 aligns with the company’s intended growth. At the next annual meeting, Marchetti’s position is up for reelection.

Citing his expertise in the gaming business, Executive Chair Jamie Odell voiced confidence in Marchetti’s ability to make a significant contribution to the company’s growth. Marchetti’s hire, according to Odell, is in line with Light & Wonder’s objective of boosting shareholder value.

“Light & Wonder is operating from a position of strength, and I look forward to applying my experience and passion for the business,” said Michael Marchetti, expressing his delight.

Marchetti has had executive positions in game companies and financial organizations, including Electronic Arts, Buffalo Studios, and Merrill Lynch. He is now Age of Learning Inc.’s Chief Financial Officer. Age of Learning Inc. is a US-based company that focuses in digital technology and educational initiatives.

Oliver Chow was appointed Chief Financial Officer by Light & Wonder in December, emphasizing the value of expertise and leadership in advancing the business. Since August, Oliver Chow has been filling in as acting temporary leader. The company’s commitment to managing the quickly evolving world of casino technology and gaming is evident in its recent board additions and strategic initiatives.
