Crown Resorts warns public about fake news on social media using their name, logo

January 5, 2024 AustraliaWorld Crime & LegaliGaming & Gambling

Australian casino operator Crown Resorts has alerted the public about fake social media profiles and advertisements advertising unlicensed online gambling businesses that use Crown’s name, logo, and other distinguishing features.

In a formal statement, Crown Resorts emphasized that it is illegal for Australians to run online casinos or provide casino-style games. The company emphasized that it does not engage in online gaming and advised the public to exercise caution. For the most recent news and promotions, it directed people to Crown’s official websites and social media channels.

According to the notification, Crown Resorts is implementing a significant reform plan across all of its integrated resorts in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth. The company is making an effort to recover its casino licenses after conducting thorough investigations in many jurisdictions.

In compliance with the findings of the Finkelstein Royal Commission, Crown Melbourne’s gaming clients who use electronic gambling machines will henceforth be required to adhere to time and loss constraints. The commission determined that Crown could not maintain its Victorian casino license, subject to a two-year review overseen by a Special Manager. The decision on Crown’s reform initiatives is expected in 2024.
