IPI provides no updates on due gaming license fees as deadline approaches
Howyo Chi, the manager and director of Imperial Pacific International LLC (IPI), has not provided any information on the expected payment of unpaid gaming license charges as the last deadline draws near.
IPI was granted 30 days by the board of the Commonwealth Casino Commission to settle the $62 million in unpaid casino license fees that IPI owed to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) over a four-year period. December 30th is the deadline for payments, and the issue will be discussed at the CCC’s subsequent monthly meeting.
IPI has unpaid license fees for the CNMI casinos for the years 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 totaling $15.5 million. IPI is being sued by judgment creditors in federal and local courts for more than $21 million in claims, in addition to the license costs. The situation demonstrates IPI’s ongoing financial challenges, and the outcome of the next CCC meeting will provide insight into how past-due payments are settled.
