Ciarán Carruthers, the CEO of Crown Resorts, is reportedly being investigated for his alleged intervention to allow some visitors to re-enter the Crown Melbourne casino after they had been asked to leave by security.
Two incidents from last month are reportedly being investigated, one of which involves Carruthers allegedly allowing a patron who had been sent away from the casino for bringing a child onto the floor to re-enter. Carruthers is accused of allowing an inebriated patron to stay after being told to leave in another incident.
Crown Resorts has engaged outside attorneys to conduct a separate inquiry in response to the allegations. The investigation will also consider whether top management’s authority should be restricted when it comes to player safety. After Blackstone took Crown private last year, Carruthers was appointed CEO. Prior to that, he was employed at Wynn Macau Ltd.
The document emphasizes that these are just assertions and that an impartial law firm is currently looking into them. The results of the inquiry will be used to assess if the accusations are genuine and whether Crown Resorts has taken any appropriate action.
