Visitor arrivals to Philippines surpasses 4.8 million target
The Department of Tourism (DOT) reports that, in the first 11 months of 2023, the number of visitors to the Philippines was around 4.9 million, surpassing the government’s target of 4.8 million arrivals for the whole year.
Over 4.5 million international visitors arrived in the country during this time, excluding Filipinos traveling abroad.
South Korea continued to be the top source of incoming tourists, making up nearly 1.3 million arrivals and 26.4% of all trips. Other significant source markets were the US, Japan, China, Australia, and Canada, each accounting for a different proportion of overall arrivals.
Over 100,000 tourists have regularly visited South Korea in a single month, with 117,685 coming in November. July was the busiest month for tourism in the Philippines, with 516,304 visitor visits.
Asia Gaming Brief previously reported that the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs temporarily stopped accepting applications for e-visas in China in order to improve the system; nevertheless, it seems that this development had little effect on the gaming industry.
