PH exceeds 2023 target on number of int’l visitors

An extraordinary feat has been accomplished in the Philippines as it has surpassed its annual target of 4.8 million visits from foreign tourists.

As of November 28, the number of visitors to the country had surpassed 4.82 million, reflecting a significant increase in the tourism sector compared to the previous year. Considering the limitations imposed by the global pandemic, this achievement is truly extraordinary.

A total of 26.5% of all tourist arrivals were attributed to South Korea, which was the most visited country, followed by the United States and Japan.

The secretary of tourism underscored the criticality of the sector as a fundamental pillar of the Philippine economy, supporting a workforce of 5.35 million individuals.

This organization is crucial to the capacity of the nation to provide employment, support individuals, and improve the welfare of the community. By the end of the year, the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) anticipates that these figures will have surpassed 5 million foreign visitors.

This performance demonstrates the resilience of the Philippine tourism industry and the appeal of the country as a vacation destination in light of global travel trends and efforts to recover. As travel restrictions are being eased and international borders are being opened, the Philippines is well positioned to sustain its rising tourist demand.
