Malaysia to allow visa-free entry to Chinese, Indian citizens
Malaysia plans to let Chinese and Indian citizens to enter the country without a visa starting on December 1, according to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The action is a component of a bigger strategy to boost the nation’s tourism sector and promote economic growth.
A 30-day visa exemption would be available to passport holders from China and India, encouraging travel and cross-cultural exchanges between the two major nations. With Malaysia’s forthcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China, the project is extremely relevant.
The only legal casino complex in the nation, Resorts World Genting, owned by Genting Malaysia Bhd, anticipates more tourism as a result of the visa waiver. In its third-quarter results, Genting Malaysia expressed optimism about foreign travel, predicting further growth in the local casino industry as air travel becomes more accessible and has more capacity.
This move encourages additional travel partnerships as it aligns with China’s reciprocal decision to provide visa-free entry to Malaysians and citizens of five European countries.
The goal of the reciprocal visa arrangements is to facilitate travel for business, pleasure, and families between the two nations. They will go into effect on December 1, 2023, and conclude on November 30, 2024.
