Hard Rock to build largest Asian venue in Malaysia

October 19, 2023 Malaysia Casino & HotelIndustry Updates

Hard Rock International is positioned to revolutionize high-end hospitality in Asia with its ambitious plan to build the Hard Rock Genting Highlands hotel in Malaysia, which is expected to open its doors in 2027.

This Hard Rock site won’t feature a casino like the others. Instead, providing an immersive experience via a variety of facilities will be the main focus.

The more than 1,000 rooms and suites of the Hard Rock Genting Highlands will be accessible, with a focus on leisure and entertainment. Guests may enjoy a heated pool, a state-of-the-art spa, and a variety of eateries and bars. On the premises will also be a 200-square-meter Rock Shop with exclusive Hard Rock merchandise.

This project is Hard Rock International’s third collaboration with Malaysia, after the success of the Hard Rock hotels in Penang and Desaru Coast. The decision to build in Malaysia is a reflection of the country’s growing importance in the tourism and entertainment industries.

Included in the MYR10 billion (about US$2.1 billion) King’s Park Genting Highlands development are hotels, retail complexes, and other attractions in addition to amusement parks. It aims to provide a vibrant and dynamic environment that may suit a broad range of preferences and passions.

In order to adhere to local regulations and promote a family-friendly atmosphere, the project’s creators have chosen to exclude casinos even though gambling is often forbidden in Malaysia. For those who like gambling, Resorts World Genting is about five to ten minutes away.
