SJM to launch new Shanghainese restaurant at Grand Lisboa Palace
SJM’s Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (GLP) will launch a new Huaiyang and Shanghainese restaurant, Hua Ting, on 26 March, the property announced Monday.
Hua Ting will become the latest attraction to open its doors at GLP since the Cotai integrated resort held a soft opening on 30 July 2021. Led by Yangzhou chef Yan Yong Gang, the restaurant is described as serving authentic Shanghainese dishes and Huaiyang delicacies based on traditional recipes and cooking methods.
Chef Yan graduated from the Jiangsu Yangzhou Business Higher Vocational School with a culinary degree in 1993 before working at one of the Yangzhou State Guest Houses, where he cooked Huaiyang and Shanghainese dishes for state banquets. He has since represented the Jiangsu Province in multiple food exchanges, including at Michelin starred restaurants in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The restaurant itself is said to be reminiscent of Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s.
