Running Record: 10-8
The Warriors and Kings are set to face off in a fun Western Conference showdown wherein both teams are trying to improve their records and climb up the standings.
Golden State’s acquisition of Jimmy Butler has looked great so far. His ability to create offense inside has opened up the floor for Stephen Curry, who thrives when he has space to operate. Since Butler’s arrival, the Warriors have gone 3-1, looking like a team that could make a serious postseason push.
The Kings, meanwhile, took a different route, parting ways with their floor general De’Aaron Fox and bringing in another explosive scorer in Zach LaVine to pair up with his former Bulls teammate DeMar DeRozan and Malik Monk. In their six games after the trade, the Kings have gone 3-3. However, they've imrpoved as of late having gone 3-1 in their last four games, showing signs that they’re starting to build chemistry. With Domantas Sabonis still dominating inside, they have a potent mix of scoring and rebounding.
Who Has the Edge?
On paper, the Warriors may have landed the better player at the deadline, but the Kings seem to have their number. Sacramento has won three straight against Golden State, and their new lineup is beginning to click.
Golden State’s defense will have its hands full trying to contain the Kings’ trio of perimeter scorers while also dealing with Sabonis inside. Even though the Warriors are playing well, Sacramento’s size, depth, and recent success in this matchup make them the better pick.
