Zeus’ roster marks the end of T1’s ZOFGK era in League of Legends. The ZOGFK roster won two of their three world championship appearances.
Choi “Zeus” Woo-je has left five-time League of Legends World champion T1. Zeus, the Worlds 2023 most-valuable player, steered T1 to its fourth world championship in front of the home crowd in Seoul.
“Today, we part ways with 'Zeus.' We truly thank him for all that he has accomplished at T1 and wish him all the best,” T1 said. T1 will sign in former Hanwha Life Esports top laner Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon to fill in the void left by Zeus.
Zeus’ departure after two consecutive World Championship titles shocked the League of Legends community as his departure marked the end of the legendary ZOFGK era.
Ryu "Keria" Min-seok first renewed his contract, followed by jungler Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun, and AD Carry Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong. Esports legend Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok’s contract with T1 lasts until 2026. Prior to this, T1 said it was committed to listen to calls to retain all the players on its roster.
Zeus began his professional League of Legends career with T1 in 2019, initially competing on the team’s LCK Academy roster. A year later, he was promoted to the main roster, where he would go on to achieve significant success.
Zeus, a prominent top laner, joined T1 in 2020 after starting his career with their academy team. He initially served as a substitute but quickly became a key member of the main roster, forming the renowned "ZOFGK" lineup alongside Faker, Oner, Keria, and Gumayusi. This formidable team dominated the LCK, winning the Spring 2022 title with an undefeated run.
T1's dominance continued for the next two years, securing multiple LCK titles. However, despite their domestic success, the team faced challenges on the international stage. Despite this, the ZOFGK roster achieved remarkable success, winning the World Championship twice in a row in 2023 and 2024.
