The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is extending a helping hand to Filipinos who lost their jobs due to the government's closure of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) in late 2024. A two-day job fair specifically designed for these displaced workers is being held on January 28th and 29th at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Focus on Re-employment and Upskilling
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma believes that many former POGO workers possess valuable skills, particularly in information technology (IT).
Secretary Laguesma anticipates a significant number of high-end IT positions being available, catering to the skillsets of displaced POGO workers. This presents an exciting opportunity for them to potentially transition into new and promising career paths within the IT sector.
The job fair will run from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on both days, offering ample time for attendees to explore the over 5,000 job openings from a diverse range of companies. Around 126 local employers and six overseas agencies will be participating, showcasing a variety of opportunities across different industries.
