SkyCity Faces License Review After $44.6 Million Fine
In response to the court’s acceptance of hefty fines for anti-money laundering infractions, SkyCity Entertainment Group has declared the commencement of an independent review of its casino license in Adelaide.
Under the direction of Brian Martin, the evaluation was put on hold in February 2023 while AUSTRAC, Australia’s financial regulator, pursued a civil penalty claim. On June 7, the courts penalized SkyCity $44.6 million for past violations at its Adelaide site.
A study has been mandated by the South Australian Commissioner to determine if SkyCity Adelaide is still eligible to maintain its license. Similar evaluations are currently being conducted for other Australian gaming companies.
