December 20, 2023 Thailand Casino & HotelCrime & Legal

Nine Thai citizens managed to escape from a gang that had conned them into working at a contact center within a Poi Pet casino complex.

The incident happened close to Ban Khlong Luek, the permanent border crossing for the Aranyaprathet area. The group methodically set fire to the building in order to get their freedom, and they ran away as two of their companions were apprehended. The knife-wielding group was pursuing the Thai nationals, who managed to cross the border safely.

The events took place early yesterday morning. With knives in hand, the nine visibly injured individuals tried to escape from a Poi Pet casino by trying to cross the border trench.

Personnel from the border patrol promptly rushed to the discovery and provided help. After that, they assisted the Aranyaprathet rescue squad in getting the injured people to the hospital.

An inquiry revealed that the Thai nationals were coerced into working at a contact center within a casino complex, where they endured physical mistreatment, including electrocution.

They devised a strategy to set a fire inside the building since they were determined to get out. Of the eleven persons who decided to escape, only nine were successful, and the other two were apprehended, according to Khao Sod.

The nine Thai nationals involved in the incident were identified as Prachayamani (27 years old), Putthiphong (30 years old), Jakkrit (21 years old), Kamon (47 years old), Thayakon (43 years old), Chindanai (23 years old), Thanakij (23 years old), Phumiphat (27 years old), and Nanthaphat (23 years old).
