Paradise Group’s Seoul Luxury Hotel Targets High Rollers, Focuses on China

July 3, 2024 South Korea Casino & HotelIndustry Updates

Paradise Group, South Korea’s top operator of foreigner-only casinos, plans to build a new all-suite luxury hotel in Seoul as part of a strategy to attract more international high rollers, CEO Choi Jong-hwan announced. The initiative, named “Beyond No. 1, Paradise Value Up Project,” aims to offer unique experiences beyond traditional services, with a specific focus on Chinese tourists.

Scheduled to open in 2028 at Paradise City in Incheon, the 18-floor hotel will span 13,950 square meters and feature around 200 suites offering premium services, Korean cuisine, and wellness amenities.

Choi emphasized the need for upscale accommodation in Seoul, stating, “We will build a truly high-end hotel.” Additionally, Paradise Group plans to inaugurate a new gaming space for high rollers at Paradise Walkerhill in Seoul in September, along with integrating operating systems across its casinos in Seoul, Incheon, Busan, and Jeju to enhance marketing efforts. A new Paradise lounge at Seoul’s Gimpo International Airport is also set to open in August.

Choi highlighted China as a key market, anticipating recovery opportunities given its slower progress compared to Japan. He remarked, “If the Japanese market has progressed significantly, I believe there is now substantial potential in the Chinese market,” noting Jeju Island’s attractiveness to Chinese visitors now that it allows visa-free entry.

Paradise recently reported a 38.2% year-on-year sales increase to KRW264.8 billion (US$193 million) in 1Q24, driven by improvements in the mass market and Japanese VIP segments.
