Jeju Dream Tower Casino’s June Financial Report Amid Challenges
Lotte Tour Development Co. Ltd., which operates the Jeju Dream Tower resort on Jeju Island, South Korea, reported that its casino generated approximately KRW18.95 billion (US$13.6 million) in net income in June, marking a 30.1 percent decline from May’s approximately KRW27.11 billion.
In contrast, June’s casino net revenue showed an 84.0 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
The resort’s foreigner-only casino hosted 28,794 patrons in June, reflecting a 3.2 percent decrease from the previous month but a 29.4 percent increase year-on-year.
Revenue from table games in June totaled KRW17.76 billion, up 88.9 percent year-on-year but down 27.6 percent from May.
Machine game net revenue for June exceeded KRW 1.19 billion, a 53.5 percent decrease from May but a 33.1 percent increase compared to June last year.
June’s overall casino drop amounted to approximately KRW130.07 billion, a decrease of less than 7.1 percent from May but marking a 14.4 percent improvement from June 2023.
A fire incident in a non-gaming area of the building necessitated the casino’s closure for about two hours on June 9, 2024.
