PAGCOR inaugurates first socio-civic center in Batangas
Two years after beginning ground in March 2022, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) formally revealed the newest Socio-Civic Center on Wednesday, June 26. The PHP50 million state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in Barangay Pansipit, a community named after the river that connects Taal Lake to Balayan Bay, under the direction of PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco.
The two-story facility can accommodate a range of activities, including social events, educational programs, and local government initiatives. In times of disaster, it also functions as an evacuation center.
During his statement, Mr. Tengco emphasized the importance of initiatives that promote resilience and community development. He clarified that in order to better represent its adaptability beyond emergency sheltering, PAGCOR renamed its multipurpose evacuation facilities Socio-Civic Centers.
PAGCOR has finished and unveiled 39 projects as of yet. 33 more Socio-Civic Centers are presently being built across the country.
