China Tourist Numbers Rebounding in Asia, Spending Lags

Strong regional demand, stable economic conditions, and efforts to boost tourism are to blame for this.

China’s delayed reopening in January 2023 is reflected in its slow recovery. Though worries persist, a full recovery for the region is anticipated in the first half of 2025.

Geopolitical instability, expensive airfares, and high energy prices are some of these, along with the gradual resumption of air transport.

Travel demand and spending may be further suppressed by global economic downturns or a weaker Chinese economy.

The region’s natural tourist destinations are also affected negatively by climate change.
