Star Entertainment Embraces Smart Tables for Compliance and Efficiency

June 7, 2024 Australia Casino & HotelIndustry Updates

Australia’s Star Entertainment Group is increasing the number of smart gaming tables it uses. By the end of the year, it wants to have them installed on every baccarat table, and by 2025, it wants to have them across every casino.

In response to regulatory scrutiny, this measure steps up anti-money laundering (AML) initiatives and ethical gaming operations.

Rick McDonald, General Manager of Star’s Table Games Strategy, spoke about his goals during a roundtable for the industry. At The Star Sydney, 75 baccarat tables already have smart tables installed by the company.

The proposal is supported by regulators in Queensland and New South Wales, where Star operates.

Smart tables boost operational efficiency, provide trustworthy player data for responsible gaming, and enhance game integrity. Chip attribution technology is another avenue that Star is exploring to assist stop financial fraud.
