Wynn Macau Aims for Premium Market Share Growth

June 3, 2024 Macau Casino & Hotel

According to Seaport Research, Wynn Macau, a significant casino operator in Macau, intends to grow its market share in the premium mass market over the coming years.

This happens as a result of the business adjusting to a shifting market.

According to analyst Vitaly Umansky, Wynn might increase its market share in 2024, but by 2025, competition should intensify.

Wynn’s dominance could be threatened by newer resorts, a rise in tourism in general, and other operators who cater to high-end customers.

Even so, Umansky is still upbeat. He highlights Wynn’s prior adaptability and current initiatives to enhance its high-end goods.

He says there is a two-pronged approach to the problem: gaining premium market share and bringing in more walk-in and mid-week customers.

In recent years, Wynn, a high-end VIP operator, has shifted to premium mass. Although the company lost some tables during the concession renewal in 2022, Umansky thinks this won’t have a significant effect anytime soon.

Additionally, Seaport implies that compared to its rivals, Wynn might be taking longer to fully embrace the potential of smart gaming tables. RFID technology is used in these tables to improve player analysis and marketing effectiveness.

Beyond Macau, Wynn might decide to postpone his planned ventures in Thailand. Seaport claims that Thailand isn’t yet prepared for US-regulated operators to get involved.

Wynn’s joint venture in the UAE appears more attractive in the interim. When it opens in 2027, their upcoming “Wynn Al-Marjan” resort will be the only casino in the area, which might bring in a sizable sum of money. Still, there is concern over the development of new casinos in Dubai.
