Executive Chef in Macau Casino Restaurant Fired, Accused of Bribery
An unidentified Macau gaming concessionaire reported its senior chef to the police for suspected bribery. The Macau Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) is looking into claims that the chef asked subordinates for “monthly fees” in return for recommending them for jobs or contract extensions.
The CCAC claims that the chef, who held significant hiring and firing authority within the department, requested these payments, which came to MOP240,000 (about $29,870), between September 2020 and February 2023.
The chef was fired and is currently being prosecuted in the private sector for passive bribery. The Office of Public Prosecutors has been tasked with handling this matter.
