West Ham Star Paqueta Faces FA Charges for Alleged Betting Breaches
The Football Association has lodged serious grievances against Lucas Paqueta, a midfield player for West Ham. The Brazilian’s actions during the Premier League season last year have led to charges of four betting regulations infractions.
According to the FA, Paqueta deliberately tried to influence betting markets by getting yellow cards in matches against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United, and Bournemouth.
Paqueta asserts that he completely disagrees with the allegations, that he is clearing his name, and that he is cooperating with the investigation.
Sandro Tonali of Newcastle was previously punished with a fine and a suspended ban for the same offenses.
The FA doesn’t say anything until the matter is settled, giving Paqueta till June 3rd to respond.
