PNP-SAF Troopers in Hot Water for POGO Escort Duty

When two commandos of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) were apprehended while serving as escorts for a Chinese executive connected to a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO), they were charged.

Following a brawl on May 18th that exposed their illicit side business, Corporal George Mabuti and Patrolman Roger Valdez were taken into custody.

They are being detained under strict custody while accusations of alarm and scandal are being made against them.

There is yet more to the situation. An investigation is underway into the allegations of improper personnel supervision against seven other PNP-SAF officials, including their superiors.

Administrative charges are pending against these other officers for grave misbehavior while on duty.

This incident highlights the growing concerns about the PNP-SAF’s involvement in activities beyond their assigned duties.
