Galaxy Macau Revamps with Smart Tables, Eyes Market Share Gains

May 17, 2024 Macau Casino & HotelIndustry Updates

GEG is setting a higher standard in Macau with the launch of its smart gaming tables. The company announced during its most recent first-quarter earnings call that it plans to start implementing the technology in July.

This move takes place in tandem with Galaxy Macau’s ongoing renovations, which have reduced market share but are almost finished.

Although GEG’s market share decreased slightly from 17.5% to 17.2% in Q42023, the company’s management expressed hope for a rebound.

Even though there were still a few slot machine improvements ongoing, they reported “meaningful improvement” in April and May.

The smart tables from Walker Digital Table Systems should be fully functional by late 2024 or early 2025.

Analysts predict that this will set Galaxy Macau up for success along with a revised marketing strategy.

According to Vitaly Umansky of Seaport Research, “Galaxy’s competitive advantage remains its scale, service, and product offering.” “With a re-focus on sales and operations, we expect share gains to continue.”

Now, StarWorld, its peninsula property, is the center of GEG’s attention, with upgrades anticipated to be finished by year’s end.

Umansky highlights management’s confidence in Macau’s future despite the Q1 market share loss, especially in light of the recent implementation of IVS (Integrated Video Surveillance) technology, which is anticipated to enhance connection and serve the Greater Bay Area market.
