Saipan Casino’s Assets Auctioned Amid License Uncertainty
On Wednesday, the receiver overseeing the asset auction sold two Rolls Royce cars owned by Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC for a combined US$333,000. This added a new chapter to the drama surrounding the beleaguered Saipan casino operator.
In a live online auction, Clear Management Ltd. sold two luxury cars for US$163,000 and US$170,000, respectively. This makes 11 IPI vehicles sold so far. An additional auction with about a hundred cars is planned for June.
Along with the recent auction of upscale liquor from IPI’s inventory, two Crystal Dragons that are on display at the Imperial Palace • Saipan casino will also be auctioned off as part of Clear Management’s asset sale.
Danny Ewing, the director of operations at Clear Management and a former employee of IPI, has stated that the Crystal Dragon auction will conclude on August 22 and that the majority of the potential buyers will be from the Middle East.
IPI filed a settlement proposal this week in an attempt to salvage its Saipan casino license while addressing current revocation hearings with the Commonwealth Casino Commission (CCC).
On April 22, the CCC, which in 2021 brought five complaints against IPI for violating license agreements, is scheduled to make a decision about IPI’s license status.
Since April 2021, IPI’s license has been stopped, underscoring a crucial juncture in the company’s ongoing legal and operational problems.
