Yuan Bo-Chun and Lin Jyun-Ze, both Taiwanese nationals, were detained in Makati on Monday night for allegedly possessing high-powered weaponry and equipment used in online fraud and illegal gambling.

According to Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the arrest occurred at 7 p.m. inside a hotel on Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay Poblacion.

Yuan was being sought by agents from the Bureau of Immigration and the NCRPO’s regional intelligence office. He was pursued in Taiwan for potential human trafficking. Nartatez said that while he was being held hostage, multiple dangerous weapons were seized, including two assault rifles, a 5.56 M4A1 carbine rifle, and a 9mm Ingram pistol. Yuan, together with the magazine components, ammunition, and handcuffs, was sent to jail.

Lin, on the other hand, was captured using many workstations to commit online fraud and illegal gambling. The officials claimed to have confiscated ID cards, bank cards, computer systems, marijuana, and hundreds of pre-registered SIM cards from Lin.

After being detained, the two foreign nationals were transported to the NCRPO headquarters in Taguig for further investigation.
