Air Macau launches new flights to Kuala Lumpur

January 11, 2024 Macau Industry Updates

Air Macau started new flights to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. The airline plans to run four weekly flights between Macau and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Air Macau General Manager Zhu Paibo said that the airline is dedicated to expediting the creation of international lines in compliance with government directives during the introduction ceremony before the first flight.

The start of these flights aligns with the reciprocal visa-free arrangement between Malaysia and China. According to MIA’s marketing director, Fong Hio Kin, at the Macau-Kuala Lumpur flight inauguration ceremony, this extension is anticipated to add to the airport’s forecasted 10 to 15% rise in passenger traffic over the previous year.

Fong outlined the obstacles still standing in the way of the aviation sector’s comeback and issued a dire warning about a labor crisis in the near future in neighboring nations, particularly in ground operations. Still, he promised that the airport would provide the means for airlines to expand. The airport recently disclosed that with a steady increase to nearly 5.2 million passengers last year, passenger flow in 2023 reached 54% of pre-pandemic levels.
