Hong Kong Jockey Club promotes Moray Taylor-Smith to Executive Director, Security, Integrity and Information Security
Moray Taylor-Smith, who is now the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Director of Security & Integrity, will take on the role of Executive Director, Security, Integrity, and Information Security on January 15, 2024.
After winning a seat on the Board of Management, Taylor-Smith will report directly to the Club’s CEO, Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
In his capacity as Executive Director, Taylor-Smith will be in responsibility of ensuring the Club’s security, paying particular attention to criminal and corrupt practices that could jeopardize the Club’s ability to operate. He will also be responsible for protecting the Club’s intangible assets, which include its reputation, the faith of its patrons, and its intellectual property.
One of Taylor-Smith’s new duties is to lead the Information Security Risk and Assurance department. In this role, he will be in charge of overseeing information security strategy and policy, which includes cyber security. Risk assessment, risk mitigation, monitoring, and incident response are examples of risk management techniques.
Upon joining the HKJC in January 2020, Moray Taylor-Smith has overseen the Security & Integrity division and has been instrumental in difficult periods like the COVID-19 outbreak. Aside from his work, he is co-chair of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists’ Hong Kong chapter and a longtime member of the Asia Crisis and Security Group.
The HKJC also announced a record year for the fiscal year ending in June 2023 at the same time as this announcement. With the help of increasing contributions from the Mark Six Lottery and football betting, total income rose to HK$304.8 billion (US$38.9 billion) from 5.1% in the previous year.
