Vietnam eyes 17 to 18 million international visitors in 2024
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism states that the country’s tourism sector has high goals for 2024, hoping to draw between 17 and 18 million international visitors.
During a recent press conference, government representatives estimated that total tourism profits for the year would be around VND840 trillion (US$34.7 billion).
According to the briefing’s statistics, Vietnam had a remarkable 244.2 percent year-over-year increase in international visitor visits in 2023, with 12.6 million visitors. About 70% of the pre-pandemic 2019 level was represented by this number. In 2023, tourism is predicted to generate VND678 trillion in revenue.
Although there is a casino industry in Vietnam, it is crucial to remember that most of these establishments are only accessible to visitors from other countries. With 3.6 million visits, South Korea was the top source market for tourists in 2023, followed by China with 1.7 million visits.
Vietnam had 3,921 international travel agencies by the end of 2023, a notable increase of 1,027 over the year before. Additionally, there are around 38,000 tourist accommodation establishments in the country, totaling 780,000 rooms.
Remarkably, 247 of these establishments, with a combined capacity of 80,896 rooms, were classified as five-star hotels. This paper outlines Vietnam’s continuous efforts to enhance its tourism offerings and infrastructure in order to meet the growing demands of international tourists.
