Macau unveils free-ticket direct bus service from Hong Kong Airport

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) debuted a new initiative on Monday, providing free tickets for the bus route that runs directly from Hong Kong International Airport to Macau.

This subsidy’s main goal is to entice international visitors and Taiwanese tourists who are already in Hong Kong to think about including Macau in their travel itinerary. In addition to seeking a wider range of international visitor markets, the tourist bureau declared its goal of promoting twin-destination tourism, which aims to create a seamless travel experience between Hong Kong and Macau.

When arriving at Hong Kong International Airport, qualified travelers may take advantage of this offer by going to the direct bus service counter, presenting their boarding pass and travel documents, and filling out the required registration form to get complimentary bus tickets to Macau. The MGTO said that visitors may use the free bus service as much as they want during the promotional period, but it did not specify how long the offer would last. Free tickets are available in a limited quantity and are given out on a first come, first served.

In order to increase awareness and encourage usage of this free ticket offer, MGTO plans to launch a broad range of offline and online promotional campaigns in partnership with the bus service operator. The ultimate objective is to extend visitors’ stays in Macau and raise their overall spending so that the local economy benefits. According to the tourism agency, more international visitors will be urged to spend their Christmas vacation in Macau so they may take advantage of the city’s newest attractions.
