Marvels-themes interactive attraction in Vegas to close down

December 20, 2023 World Casino & HotelEvents & Announcements

The Marvel-themed Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. attraction on the second level of Las Vegas’ Treasure Island (TI) is planned to close on January 1, 2024.

Victory Hill Exhibitions debuted the interactive exhibit in 2016, enabling visitors to take part in virtual reality missions, solve riddles, and compete against well-known Marvel characters. Real items and costumes from the Marvel film series are also on display for visitors.

According to speculations, Treasure Island purposefully closed Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. in order to build a pirate-themed attraction there the next year. Treasure Island’s owner, Phil Ruffin, who purchased the casino resort from MGM Mirage in November 2009, said that the firm was considering putting on a pirate show using holograms or animatronics.

Any Las Vegas attraction that closes does so for financial reasons, but those with high license costs, such as those associated with Marvel Entertainment, may be particularly subject to fluctuations in visitor numbers. Even if Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. shuts, Victory Hill Exhibitions is said to be planning to maintain the Marvel space under lease and launch a new exhibition with a pirate theme.

The switch of a Marvel-themed attraction to a pirate-themed attraction has altered Treasure Island’s entertainment approach. Scott Roeben of Casino.org’s Vital Vegas blog revealed the closure on December 16, along with insights on how Las Vegas’ entertainment choices are growing.
