Singapore welcomed total of 1.1m international visitors in October
In October, there were 1,125,948 international visitor arrivals in Singapore, a significant increase of 37.8% over the same period last year.
While it is somewhat less than the 1,130,757 recorded arrivals in September, the figure nonetheless represents a sequential decline for the third consecutive month.
As to Geraldine Wong, an analyst at DBS Bank, the decline in visitor arrivals month over month might perhaps be attributed to traditional seasonality, because the rise in Chinese arrivals throughout July and August has already leveled down.
Singapore is expected to welcome between 12 and 14 million tourists annually, even with the present downturn. In the first nine months of 2023, 11.3 million visitors visited the country. In the near future, some Chinese tourists may have chosen to visit Singapore rather than Thailand or Japan due to concerns about safety, according to Wong, but these trends usually fade quickly.
