PH plans to develop 48 new hotels, 15,000 hotel rooms by 2028

November 22, 2023 Philippines Casino & Hotel

The Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA) has revealed ambitious plans to develop 48 new hotels throughout the country by 2028, adding nearly 15,000 hotel rooms to the hospitality sector.

This significant rise indicates a strong level of trust in the Philippine tourism industry, which has outperformed earlier estimates for the number of international visitors arriving in 2023.

Benito Bengzon Jr., Executive Director of PHOA, said that investors have high hopes for the future of Philippine tourism and the hotel industry. According to him, a lot of developers and investors are searching for opportunities in smaller cities around the country in addition to major entry points like Manila and Cebu. The huge demand for investment reveals the industry’s robust future and displays trust in hotels as a viable enterprise.

According to Bengzon, hotels around the nation will have stronger occupancy rates in 2023 than the previous year. While specific figures were not provided, the growth is being linked to strong local demand as well as the return of visitors from important areas such as South Korea and China.

To answer to the changing needs of modern-day tourists, hotels are also adopting a proactive approach by enhancing facilities and widening services, such as supplying organic food and beverage choices.

In the future, Bengzon emphasized the significance of the aviation industry’s steady recuperation and the establishment of international routes in order to continue expansion. He underlined the need for air connectivity, pointing out that drawing tourists to the country would be challenging in the absence of sufficient air travel.
