Pasay City police chief, officers relieved of duty amid POGO investigation
As a result of an investigation into a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) accused of human trafficking and other illegal activity, the chief of police for Pasay City as well as 26 other policemen have been dismissed from their positions.
This action follows a raid that occurred last month. A spokesman for the Philippine National Police said that charges of neglect of duty might be brought against Substation Commander Captain Criz Antonio Catalua, Police Director Colonel Froilan Uy, and the other officers.
The PNP‘s “one-strike policy” was emphasized by the spokesperson, who said that officers would be penalized for neglect of duty if they knew about illegal conduct occurring but did nothing.
A POGO facility in Pasay City was searched on October 27th, and significant evidence of sex trafficking was found. During the operation, 731 workers were saved from a massage parlor within the POGO hub.
