Stake.com, an online casino operating on cryptocurrency, has acknowledged that ‘unauthorized’ transactions exceeded $40 million on its platform.
Reportedly, the platform experienced a breach on September 4th, leading to a temporary suspension of services for approximately five hours. After reopening, Stake.com assured users that ‘all services have been fully restored,’ with ‘instant processing of deposits and withdrawals available for all currencies.’
It is suspected that the hack was executed through the use of a stolen private key.
Stake.com is currently ‘investigating’ the incident and emphasized that it maintains only ‘a small portion of its cryptocurrency reserves in hot wallets at any given time’ precisely to mitigate such risks, as mentioned in statements by the group’s co-founder.
The precise value of the unauthorized transactions has yet to be confirmed by the company.
Stake.com remains confident in the security of user funds.
