2023 Forbes Travel Guide Bestows a Record 61 Five-Star awards on Macau Integrated Resorts

Following the recent lifting of border restrictions, Macau’s integrated resorts have solidified the jurisdiction’s status as a premier luxury tourist destination with a total of 61 Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star awards in 2023.

The six concessionaires all received at least seven Five-Star awards in 2023, further demonstrating the SAR’s reputation as a top tourist destination. Melco Resorts & Entertainment and Wynn Resorts, which operate resorts in Macau, each received 15 Five-Star awards for their resorts’ hotels, spas, and restaurants.

Two further Five-Star awards were given to Melco for the Nüwa hotel and spa at City of Dreams Manila.

SJM Resorts joins the celebration in 2023 with nine Five-Star awards, including five at the just-opened Grand Lisboa Palace Cotai Integrated Resort.

According to Daisy Ho, managing director of SJM, “it is a significant accomplishment for the new Grand Lisboa Palace to receive all Five-Star ratings from Forbes Travel Guide in its first rating year.”

“We are also thrilled to announce that Grand Lisboa has received four years in a row of quadruple Forbes Five-Star honors. These honors attest to the constant work of our team members to improve the experience of visitors.

While MGM China and Sands China each received seven Five-Star honors, Galaxy Macau received eight spanning Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, The Ritz-Carlton Macau, Banyan Tree Spa Macau, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Macau, and Lai Heen.

Macau’s IRs received 61 Five-Star honors, which is eight fewer than the 53 they received in 2022.
