How to play poker
As much as Poker is a game of strategy, you also need skills and luck. the better player will usually win in the end. If you want to start playing poker, there are a few things you should know. There are three types of poker. But today we will be focusing on just two types, that is, Stud and Draw Poker.
In stud poker, each player receives five cards (or seven for some games). Then, the players evaluate the strength of their cards and adjust their chip bets accordingly. Unless another player is ready to bet an equal number of chips, the player who makes the highest bid wins. Players left in this situation will then show their hands. All winnings go to the best hand.
In Draw Poker, each player is dealt five cards, followed by one round of betting. The rest of the players can try to improve their hands by exchanging up to 3 cards from the deck for 3 new cards. If a player has an ace, all four of his other cards can be replaced as he pleases..
Despite the differences in Poker the fundamental rule is each player wants to get the strongest five-card poker hand available
The order of the cards is from best to worst. When two players have the same hand, the rank of a card frequently breaks the tie. The most valued card is the Ace. Here is the order King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
Now let’s understand the basic rules of the Poker game
Raise — A player may raise the required bets if they believe they have a strong hand or if they want the other players to believe they have a strong hand.
Fold — A player may lay down their cards if they believe their hand is not strong enough to win and do not wish to place a higher bet. He won’t be able to win the hand, but he won’t lose any chips either.
Call — Each player must choose whether to raise the bets once more, fold his hand and concede, or call, which means to bet the same amount as the player who raised the bets.
Check — A player may choose to pass on his option to bet if no one has upped the amount necessary to proceed.
The rankings are from lowest to highest value:
High card A player’s hand is valued at the highest single card if no combinations can be made. In the event of a tie between two players, the second-highest card would be used to break it.
Example: [5 8 10 Q A]
One pair: When you have two of the same cards, you have a pair.
Example: [9 9 5 8 K]
Two Pairs: The player with the highest pair wins if more than one player has two pairs.
Example: [9 9 5 5 8]
Three of a Kind: [9 9 9 5 8]
Straight: A straight is a five-card hand consisting of a sequence of cards, regardless of suit. In case two players have straights, the straight of the higher card wins.
Example: [9 10 J Q K]
Flush: When all five cards in a hand are of the same suit.
Example: [9 5 Q K 7]
Full House: When a player has three-of-a-kind and a pair in the same hand,
Example: [9 9 9 5♣ 5♥]
Four of a Kind: If you have all four of a given number, then you have a very powerful and lucky one. [9 9 9 9 5]
Straight Flush: A straight flush is composed of five consecutive cards, all from the same suit, and is even scarcer than four of a kind.
Example: [9 10 J Q K]
Royal Flush: This well-known combination, which is formed by a straight flush that runs to the ace and is therefore unbeatable, is the best hand of them all. Being dealt this hand has a 0.0000015% chance of happening. Example:[10 J Q K A]
