October 13, 2022 World iGaming & Gambling

How about we take a break from gambling night and enjoy a chill and relaxing evening watching TV shows?

Even if you don’t partake, you can’t deny that the thought of winning big at the casino or the lottery is exciting to many people. People go to casinos in the hopes of striking it rich, blowing their winnings, and generally having the time of their lives. That, all by itself, is material worthy to be adapted on the screen.

If you’re looking for a way to unwind, here is a list of TV shows that all manage to convey the adrenaline and pleasure of gambling.

The Casino (2004)

The Casino is an American reality television series broadcast on the Fox network in 2004 which followed two dot-com millionaires, Thomas Breitling and Tim Poster, as they manage the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino, located in downtown Las Vegas instead of the more popular Las Vegas Strip.

Unfortunately, the show was canceled shortly before the last three episodes of the series could be broadcast due to dismal ratings. However, sister station Fox Reality Channel picked up The Casino and broadcast the unaired episodes and then ran the series in re-runs until its cancellation from that network.

Luck (2011)

Luck is an American dramatic television series created by David Milch and starring Dustin Hoffman. Set in the world of horse racing, the series follows the story of Ace Bernstein who was released from prison after three years and begins to plot his revenge on the associates who had him sent away. If you are interested in horse racing, this series has all the things that you need to know about horse betting, horse jockeys, and also bookies.

The show received positive reviews and was even immediately renewed for a second season of 10 episodes. However, the series was canceled due to animal safety concerns after three horses died during production of the series.

Liar Game (2007)

Liar Game is a Japanese television drama series and adaptation of a popular manga of the same name. The show is about an uncommonly naive college student named Nao Kanzaki who receives a package containing 100 million yen and a note that she is now a contestant in the Liar Game Tournament. In this fictional tournament, contestants are encouraged to cheat and lie to obtain other contestants’ money, with the losers forced to bear a debt proportional to their losses.

Las Vegas (2003)

Las Vegas is an American comedy-drama television series created by Gary Scott Thompson. It was broadcast by NBC from September 22, 2003, to February 15, 2008, airing for five seasons. It focuses on a team of people working at the Montecito, a fictional hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The employees deal with various issues that arise within the working environment, ranging from casino security to restaurant management and valet parking.
