EMMA Capital buys majority stake in Romanian gambling cos Get’s Bet, Club King
Czech investment management company EMMA Capital Group said on Wednesday it has finalised negotiations for the acquisition of a 67% stake in Romanian gambling companies Get’s Bet and Club King.
One of the key areas the new partners want to focus on is the development of online activities that will further expand the possibilities for users on the Romanian market, EMMA Capital said in a press release. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
“These are companies with extensive experience in the local market and with great potential for growth. I believe that the combination of excellent local management with our international know-how and strong capital position, will grow Get’s Bet Group to rank among the most important companies on the Romanian market,” EMMA Capital’s chief investment officer Pavel Horák said.
The companies’ management will remain in place, with EMMA Capital only complementing them in positions focused on the two companies’ strategic development.
Get’s Bet and Club King were founded in 1993 and 2004 respectively by local businessman Sandu Ghetu. Together, they have more than a thousand branches throughout Romania, and in recent years have been gaining an increasing market share, including in the online segment.
EMMA Capital is a private investment holding founded in 2012 by Jiri Smejc. In recent years, it has focused chiefly on markets in the European Union, but is also present in other markets in Europe and Asia.
The group has been present on the local market for almost a decade, as it is the sole owner of Premier Energy Group, which iis present in Romania through a local subsidiary.
