Macau Tightens Testing Rules After Guangdong Case

January 14, 2022 Crime & Legal

Macau has tightened its testing rules for all visitors arriving in the city via land or sea due to the discovery of a case in neighbouring Guangdong province.

All in-bound travellers will now need a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure, compared with seven days prior beforehand, according to the government’s epidemic coordination body.

In addition, any traveller who has been to Tanzhou Town in Zhongshan City will need to do 14 days of self-health management after leaving the area. They will also need to take five nucleic acid tests on days 1,2,4,7 and 12.

About 20 million people in China are currently under lockdown, according to media reports. This includes the cities of Henan, Tianjin and Anyang.
