Blake Ferguson arrested in Japan as new club apologises
The 31-year-old was released by Parramatta Eels at the end of the 2021 season and recently sealed a deal to join Japanese club NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu.
Reports out of Japan claim Ferguson was involved in a physical altercation at a restaurant in Roppongi on December 30 with a subsequent police search finding cocaine in his belongings.
On New Year’s Day, NEC Green Rockets confirmed their player had been arrested and apologised for his actions.
“Blake Ferguson, a contract player belonging to NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu, was arrested on December 30 on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs,” a club statement read.
“We deeply apologise for causing a great deal of concern and inconvenience to everyone involved.
